Epson have always offered good value for money multifunction printers but when it comes to the running costs in terms of the price of the printer ink cartridges they have be lacking. Recent years has seen the introduction of compatible Epson ink cartridges which offer the same quality and quantity of printing at a greatly reduced price. A set of genuine Epson SX405 ink cartridges will set you back £30 while a set of compatible can be purchased for £12. Some people believe that using compatible ink cartridges will damage the printer in some way, but this is just hear say which is created by the printer manufacturers to try and scare the consumer into buying their overpriced products. The availability of good value compatible ink cartridges for the SX405 make it a very good value for money printer when you consider it is a printer, scanner and photo copier on one machine. It not quite as good as all these task as the separate stand alone machines would be but it does perform them all to a very good standard. The printing is the SX405’s most impressive feature, it produces great quality prints whatever type of document you’re printing. Scanning and copying are also good just not as impressive as the printing, the Scanning has a good resolution and can scan any document up to A4. The copier works with out the need for a PC and produces good quality copies which are accurate representations of the original. The SX405 has a solid feel to it with a good standard of build quality so should last the test of time and if not it has a 1 year warranty to fall back on.
